About Last2Lines

A peaceful sanctuary for collective human sentiment.

Last2Lines is an award-winning digital campaigning platform that invites anyone to contribute exactly two lines of free verse to a shared campaign poem — turning thousands of isolated voices into a single, living tapestry of human solidarity.

Why two lines?

Traditional petitions collect clicks; Last2Lines collects voices. The two-line constraint removes the intimidation of writing a full poem, forces contributors to distil raw feeling into something precise, and structurally connects every couplet to the ones around it — you are never standing alone.

Radical inclusivity

Two lines take moments to write. You don't need to be a poet — you just need something to say.

The art of distillation

A 100-character limit turns reactionary outrage into considered, high-impact expression.

A unified canvas

Instead of disconnected comments, every couplet is stitched into one continuous collective poem.

About Last2Lines

Last2Lines is a collective poetry platform where anyone can contribute exactly two lines of free verse to a shared, living poem built around a cause. Every approved couplet is stitched together into one continuous tapestry of human voices.

No account is required. You simply provide your name (optional) and an email address when you submit your two lines. Your email is only used to tie contributions to a single author and is never shared or sold.

Yes. Every campaign page shows the full, continuously growing poem made from all approved couplets, in the order they were accepted.

You do. Copyright of your individual couplet stays with you. By submitting you grant Last2Lines a perpetual, royalty-free licence to publish and display your lines as part of the collective poem, across any media channel.

How it works — contributors

Find a campaign on the homepage that resonates with you, open its page, and click "Write Your Lines". Enter your two lines of free verse, add your name and email, then submit. That is all — no sign-up, no login, no previous poetry experience needed.

Authenticity beats polish. Keep each line under 100 characters, stay close to the campaign theme, and say what you actually feel. You don't need to be a poet — the constraint of two lines is the whole point.

Yes. Each campaign is independent. You can contribute two lines to as many active campaigns as you like — each couplet joins that campaign's specific poem.

You see the result as soon as you submit. If your couplet is approved straight away it appears in the living poem immediately; if it needs a human look, you are told it is queued for review. When a reviewer later approves it, it joins the poem, and if the campaign has publish emails turned on you also receive a confirmation email.

Contributions cannot be edited after submission because the poem is a collective, append-only record. If you have a genuine concern about a published couplet, please reach out via the Contact page and we will review it.

How it works — partners

A campaign partner is an organisation, charity, NGO, or individual that sponsors or co-creates a Last2Lines campaign. Partners provide the cause, the framing, and sometimes seed couplets. In return, the finished poem — and the community behind it — amplifies their message.

Use the Contact page and select "Request a new campaign". Tell us about your cause, the audience you want to reach, and any key dates. Our team will get back to you within a few working days to discuss setup, timeline, and editorial guidelines.

Once agreed, we create a dedicated campaign page with your branding guidelines, upload seed couplets if provided, configure moderation settings, and set a start and close date. You get a preview link before it goes live. After the campaign closes, we can generate a printable or shareable version of the full poem.

Last2Lines is an independent creative project. Some campaigns are run pro-bono for non-profits and community causes; others are sponsored partnerships. Please reach out via the Contact page to discuss what works for your organisation.

Partners help shape the content guidelines and can flag concerns. The Last2Lines team configures each campaign's moderation — AI or manual, and how strict — and makes the final call on anything flagged, to keep editorial independence and platform integrity.

AI and moderation

Each campaign runs in one of two modes, chosen by the Last2Lines admin team. With AI moderation on, an AI model checks every couplet against the campaign theme and our guidelines and approves on-theme couplets by itself, so they appear in the poem straight away. With manual moderation, every couplet waits for a human moderator to approve it. In both modes anything doubtful goes to a person, and admins can remove or correct published lines at any time.

Only for moderation, and only on campaigns where the admin team has switched it on. For each couplet the AI makes one of three decisions: publish it as written; publish it with light edits that help it fit the campaign theme, tone or the lines before it, keeping your meaning and imagery; or send it to a human moderator. How strict it is — lenient, standard or strict — is set by the admins per campaign. The admins also decide whether couplets must stay on the campaign theme and how confident the AI has to be before it approves anything. If the AI is unsure, or unavailable, the couplet goes to a human. The AI never rejects a couplet on its own.

No. Every couplet is written by a real person. On AI-moderated campaigns the AI may lightly edit a couplet before publishing it so it fits the campaign theme or tone, keeping the contributor's meaning and imagery. It never adds lines of its own, and the original words are always kept on record for the moderators.

Submissions are rate-limited per connection and per email address, campaigns can require email verification, and hidden checks catch automated bots. A profanity filter and the AI both hold back couplets that look like spam, hate speech, explicit language or personal data — those are never auto-approved and go to a human moderator. Repeat offenders can be blocked from future submissions.
